Michael Okello put up a man-of-the-match performance as Mwamba thrashed Nondescripts 55-22 in a Kenya Cup round 16 match at the Jamhuri Showground on Saturday.
Okello, who is part of the Kenya Sevens team, scored three tries which helped Mwamba register their ninth win of the campaign.
The result ensured that Mwamba, who have won the Kenya Cup title on one occasion, finish the regular season in fifth position with 43 points.
They consequently set up a playoffs clash against Impala Saracens who received a walkover after their opponents Kisumu RFC failed to travel to Nairobi for their final match of the league phase.
“The win has given us enough momentum and now we are settled because we know we have secured fifth position ahead of the playoffs. We had nine wins during the regular season which is an improvement although we could have done better,” said Mwamba coach Kevin Wambua.

“We lost some matches which we could have won, especially away, to Western Bulls, at home against Nakuru.
“It was an issue to do with concentration but now the boys have worked on that,” Wambua added.
Wambua noted that they played much better and stuck to their structure which allowed them to overpower Nondies in set-pieces.
Meanwhile, Nakuru RFC and Menengai Oilers won their matches in their quest for play-offs slots.
Nakuru earned a walkover after Western Bulls at Nakuru Athletic Club while Oilers beat Kenya Harlequins 39-13.
