The much anticipated Kenya Cup clash between Nondies and Kisumu RFC was called off after the latter were involved in a road accident en route to Nairobi on Friday.

"@Nondies v @KisumuRugby fixture called off after Kisumu were involved in a traffic accident en route to Nairobi. No fatalities or major injuries reported. We wish the injured Kisumu players a speedy recovery,” Kenya Rugby Union said in a tweet.

A number of players picked up injuries whose extent is yet to be accessed, according to a statement by Kisumu RFC. The two clubs were to play on Saturday at 2pm at Jamhuri Park in Nairobi.

It is unfortunate that we have had a road accident near Kinungi. We have a few players with injuries yet to be assessed. We shall keep you posted. Thanks for your concerns and prayers,” read the statement.

Nondescripts RFC wished the players (Kisumu RFC) involved in the accident a quick recovery.

“It’s unfortunate what @KisumuRugby has gone through as they were traveling from the Lakeside to honour this fixture. We wish you all a speedy Recovery.”
