Fresh from winning the Prinsloo Sevens Championships, Elisha Okello of Menengai Cream Homeboyz has warned that his charges are determined to win the National Sevens Circuit.

Okello said they would not underrate any team in their quest to win the overall title but they would take a match at a time and a tournament at a time. Speaking to Feverpitch at Nakuru Athletics Club over the weekend, Okello said the task ahead was tough but his team was equal to the task.

“We are faced with an arduous task ahead but we are determined to win the series,” he said.

The National Sevens Circuit is made up of seven series and the Prinsloo Sevens kicked off the tournament over the weekend. Top Fry Nakuru RFC are the defending champions.

Okello said their next focus was the Kabeberi Sevens to be played at the Rugby Football Union of East Africa (RFUEA) grounds in Nairobi on Saturday and Sunday. Others are the Driftwood Sevens at the Mombasa Sports Club from August 20-21 to be followed by Kisumu Dala Sevens at ASK Mamboleo Showground on September 3-4.

The Nanyuki Sevens at Nanyuki Sports Club will be on September 10-11.

The final match will be the Christie Sevens at RFUEA grounds from September 17-18 to be followed by the Safaricom International Sevens to be hosted at Safaricom Stadium from September 23-25.

The Safaricom Sevens games will assist National Sevens Coach Benjamin Ayimba pick the National Sevens team that will take part in the International Rugby Board (IRB) Sevens series that kicks off in December.

The national team is currently in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the Rio Olympics that began on August 5.
