BATTLE LINES DRAWN: KCB face hosts Resolution Impala Saracens in Impala Floodlit tourney opener

The annual Airtel Impala Floodlit tournament kicks off this weekend at Impala club with top teams fighting to impress in the three-week invitational event.

Defending champions in the club category, KCB, have been drawn against hosts Resolution Impala Saracens in the club quarter-finals according to the draw conducted on Friday.

Last year’s finalists Total Nondies will be hoping for an even better performance as they start their title quest against Mean Machine.

The other quarter final pairings pit Lunch Bar Quins against Mwamba RFC with defending Kenya Cup champions Top Fry Nakuru facing Homeboyz RFC.

In the University category, defending champions Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad, begin their title defence with a clash against Daystar.

Catholic Monks will be up against Mount Kenya University, former champions USIU will play against the Technical University of Kenya while the University of Nairobi will face JKUAT.

In the schools category defending champions Ofafa Jericho, who stunned Alliance 17-0 to claim a maiden title will start their title defence against Moi Forces Academy.

Upper Hill will play against Makini with Laiser Hill facing Mang’u while Alliance and Lenana will meet in the last quarter-final in this category.

The semifinals of this tournament, which has been played every year since 1983, will be played on October 18 with the finals slated for October 25.

Total Nondies v Mean Machine, Lunch Bar Quins v Mwamba, Top Fry Nakuru v Homeboyz , KCB v Resolution Impala Saracens.Blak Blad v Daystar MKU v Catholic Monks USIU v TUK, UoN v JKUAT. Ofafa Jericho v MFA,

Upper Hill v Makini, Laiser Hill v Mang’u and Alliance v Lenana.
