Paris Olympics at stake as Kenya Lionesses face South Africa in Africa Sevens finals

Kenya Lionesses will renew their rivalry with South Africa ahead of the 2023 Rugby Africa Women's Sevens finals set to be played at 4.12 pm in Monastir, Tunisia on Sunday.

In what will be a repeat of the Africa Men's Sevens final in Zimbabwe where Kenya Shujaa humbled South Africa 17-12 to book a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Lionesses will be hoping to emulate the Kevin Wambua charges with securing a ticket to France the main goal.

Kenya made it to the final after thrashing local neighbors Uganda 27-0 in the semifinals.

The Lionesses were coming from an impressive preliminary group stage performance where they defeated Zambia 27-0, Ghana 41-0, and Madagascar 20-17 on Saturday to proceed to the semifinals.

Against Uganda, Janet Okello picked from where she left after sending Kenya 5-0 head with an unconverted try, a lead she stretched to 10-0 moments later for er brace.

The Japan based speed star completed her hat trick after sending Kenya to the break leading 17-0.

In the final half, Naomi Amuguni got Kenya's fourth try for a 22-0 lead before Sharon Auma sealed the 27-0 win.

In the other semifinals, South Africa blitzed past Zambia 31-0 to storm the finals.
