Defending champions Kabras Sugar II will face Impala Saracens II in the Mwamba Cup semifinals after easily sailing through the quarterfinals staged over the weekend.

Kabras made the semis without kicking a ball for the second time in a row after Mwamba handed them a walkover while Impala thrashed Nakuru 34-15 at Nakuru Athletic Club to qualify for the semis.

Speaking to Standard Sports, Kabras head coach Henley Du Plessis warned his players to expect a tougher semifinal against Impala II, who have already beaten them during the regular Eric Shirley Shield (ESS) cup.

He added that they are taking the Mwamba Cup seriously and are focused on winning every cup competition they take part in this season.

“Impala are a very tricky side that has a strong youth foundation climbing through the ranks and they showed that during the ESS Cup competition. We have to be precise and clinical to get to the finals and that can only be achieved through training and hard work especially after missing the two games through walkover,” said  Du Plessis.

“Our goal is to finish top in every competition we are taking part in. We are the defending champions and we are looking forward to retain it. The same will apply in the Enterprise Cup as we also attempt to win the Kenya Cup again.”

In Nairobi, 2018 winners Strathmore Leos II narrowly edged Shamas Foundation 14-8 to book a date with KCB II, who saw off Oilers 13-10 in Nakuru.

The Mwamba Cup semifinals will be played on March 28.
