Homeboyz ended Kabras Sugar’s unbeaten run in the Kenya Cup after beating the log leaders 20-17 in a round eight match at the Impala Club yesterday.
Despite the loss, Kabras, who picked one bonus point for not losing with more than seven points, remained on top of the 12-team standings with 35 points, one more than second placed KCB who beat Impala Saracens 15-5 at the KCB Sports Club.
Homeboyz, under the tutelage of South African Hector Jason, are third with 33 points.
In their win over the sugar millers, Homeboyz took a commanding 13-3 lead at half-time following two penalties and a converted try by Maxwell Kang’eri as they restricted the visitors to a solitary penalty by Fijian Jone Kubu.
The second half would see Kabras emerge strongly to preserve their unbeaten record as they scored their first try through Kenyan international George Nyambua before Homeboyz responded through Abel Matanda’s converted try.
