Homeboyz stun champs Kabras as KCB bounce back

Homeboyz RFC continued with their excellent run of form in the Kenya Cup League when they stunned champions Kabras Sugar 34-22 in a thrilling round 14 fixture at the Jamhuri Showground, at the weekend.
It was the Deejays’ seventh straight win this year and second against the millers after beating them 29-28 in a corresponding fixture in Kakamega last year.
The win saw Homeboyz move to the second spot, same on points (54) as third-placed Kenya Harlequins and one point behind former champions and league leaders, Kenya Commercial Bank (55).
The bankers bounced from their shocking 33-24 loss to the Deejays, to beat the struggling Nondescripts 27-8 in Ruaraka.
Quins have been edged out on point’s difference by Homeboyz, after they went to Ngong Road without a bonus point following their hard-fought 17-15 victory over Mean Machine 17-15 at the UoN Grounds.

Charles Omondi, Kelvin Masai, Steve Otieno, Cyprian Kuto, Keith Wasike and Tony Onyango scored a try each to hand Homeboyz the crucial win that came with a bonus point.
“It was a tight and physical match, more so in the first half, which we matched well. They really gave us a run for our money. But we changed our strategy in the second half and made very easy three tries from spread balls. I am pleased with the boys’ performance because they stuck to the game plan and everything went on as expected,” said a jubilant Homeboyz coach Paul Murunga.
“It is my hope that we will continue with the same momentum until the end of the season. To be safe and assured of the play offs place, we must win our remaining tricky three matches.”
