Chief dies by suicide after finding wife in bed with a police officer in Nandi

A government administrator has died by suicide in Nandi County after finding out that his wife was cheating on him with a police officer.
Charles Kogei, 42, who was the chief of Ndurio location in Aldai Sub-County, died on Monday evening at a private hospital in Kapsabet after ingesting a pesticide called.
According to Nandi County DCI boss Douglas Chikanda, Kogei had caught his wife, a mother of four, in a compromising situation with a police officer at a Serem Town lodging.
The said police officer, who works at the Kobujoi police station, has been suspended from duty pending an investigation into the matter.

A relative of the chief said that he was overcome by grief and anger when he discovered his wife's infidelity and decided to end his life.
He was taken to White Crescent Nursing Home but later succumbed to the effects of the poison.
Nandi South OCPD Peter Mbua confirmed the incident and said they are conducting a probe into the matter.
The chief's body is at the White Crescent Hospital morgue awaiting an autopsy.
