A dramatic video circulating on X has captured a group of angry boda boda operators setting several reflectors ablaze.

In the footage, one rider can be heard furiously declaring, “Hii ni ushuru yetu bana, sisi ndio sifuna, mafuta wametupatia ndio tumewasha nayo hizi vitu, mafuta ya bure ya serikali, tumewasha nayo hizi vitu,” a statement that roughly translates to frustration over receiving government-supplied fuel for free yet still being expected to follow certain rules.

Another operator in the background echoed the sentiment, noting that they had been given petrol for their motorbikes, worth Sh800.

While the exact location of the so-called ‘political forum’ remains unclear, the clip clearly communicates the riders’ dissatisfaction.

Their fiery protest comes as political temperatures rise across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Several leaders are realigning their political allegiances, signalling a period of intense manoeuvring and shifting loyalties.

Recently opposition has been forming and changing faces while those affiliated with the current regime seemingly tightening their political stance even more.

With the death of the former right Honorable Prime Minister Raila odinga, it is seemingly visible that political dynamics have completely shifted within the then opposition party he co-founded.

Visible cracks have emerged in the party and displays of blame-game amid power struggle and division continues.
