Gladys Wanga, Governor of Homa Bay County, has been appointed National Chairperson of the ODM Party following changes made by the Central Committee.

Hamilton Orata will serve as the party's Homa Bay Chairperson in an acting capacity, according to Executive Director Oduor Ong'wen.

On Sunday, August 18, Ong'wen said, "The changes were necessary to ensure smooth operations within the party."

Wanga, also Chairperson of the Homa Bay Coordinating Committee, vacates her position under Articles 15 and 50 of the ODM Party Constitution.

Orata will act in her place until elections are held.

The appointment follows a top party meeting chaired by ODM leader Raila Odinga on August 9.

The meeting's agenda included selecting new officials to fill vacancies created by recent Cabinet appointments.

ODM's positions for two Deputy Party Leaders, National Chairperson and Political Affairs Secretary became vacant after Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, John Mbadi and Opiyo Wandayi were appointed to Cabinet positions by President William Ruto.
