UDA and ANC parties form committee for merger talks

President William Ruto's ruling party United Democratic Alliance (UDA) could soon merge with Amani National Congress (ANC) after the two parties formed a joint committee to expedite the process.

The decision was reached during a meeting at State House, Nairobi, on Wednesday, June 19, hosted by President Ruto.

ANC leaders, including Party leader Issa Timamy, National Chairman Kevin Lunani and Secretary General Omboko Milemba were present. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi who is also the former ANC Party Leader was also present.

UDA officials present at the meeting include the National Chairperson Governor Cecily Mbarire and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwa.

"Consolidating political parties will reduce internal conflicts and allow effective service delivery to citizens," said Ruto.

Mudavadi explained that the merger aims to forge closer national alliances and strengthen democracy.

The parties agreed that combining their strengths and resources will create a formidable political force to address national challenges.

Other officials present in the meeting include Senate Deputy Speaker Kathure Murungi and a host of MPs.
