Former Raila Odinga aide Silas Jakakimba has announced his resignation as the legal advisor for Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga.
In a post on Thursday, July 27, Jakakimba said that he has tendered his resignation due to "unexpected commitments."
"Due to emerging and increasing commitments earlier unforeseen, I have today tendered my resignation from the said office, with immediate effect," Jakakimba said in a tweet.
The lawyer said that having been appointed to the position in October last year, his appointment was based on an understanding that Homa Bay County needed a different style of leadership.
Despite his decision to quit, he expressed his trust in Governor Wanga's leadership and hopes that the dreams of the citizens would be realized through devolution in the county.

"Even so, I wish to heartily thank the Governor for believing in me. The Governor can count on our unending and unconditional support in her obviously tireless efforts to see the devolution enterprise work for the people of Homa Bay," he added.
Jakakimba, a lawyer, has been in the political limelight for a while having served Odinga as his parliamentary personal assistant in 2007.
In March this year, he quit the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party, citing their continued protests against President William Ruto's administration.
Speculations have risen to associate Jakakimba with the Kenya Kwanza government after quitting as Odinga's adviser.
