Kenya and Australia are set to strengthen international relations through engagements and proposed development agenda.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula met Australian High Commissioner to Kenya, Luke Williams to boost formal Parliamentary engagement at his office at the parliament building.

Williams commended Wetang'ula for the House leadership and proposed that the two countries should engage in formal parliamentary relations to strengthen their cordial relations.

"Kenya and Australia are friendly nations who need to advance their engagements in ensuring strategic engagement for the mutual benefits of the two countries," he said.

On his part, Wetangula lauded Williams for the visit which he said was timely since he came at a time that Kenya is focusing on the economy and development after the elections.

"We have an active Parliamentary Friendship Group that needs activation for regular engagements with counterparts in the Australian Parliament for peer exchange and knowledge sharing," Wetang'ula said.

Wetang'ula said that the two countries have enhanced collaboration in education scholarships and knowledge sharing in the mining sector.

He emphasized that the countries should explore further tourism and trade to strengthen relations.

Wetang'ula also said that the government is focused on boosting the economy of the country to boost development.
