Former allies of Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga are urging Kenyans to give President William Ruto time to implement the necessary economic reforms.

Led by former Nyatike lawmaker Omondi Anyanga, the leaders emphasised the need for careful balancing when addressing the current state of the economy.

Mr Anyanga said although some of the interventions proposed by the Kenya Kwanza administration may cause temporary discomfort, they will ultimately lead to a strong economic revival.

"The high cost of living and the overall state of the economy are concerning. We are all experiencing the impact. However, resolving the delicate economic issues cannot be achieved overnight," he said.

Anyanga said lifting the country out of the current economic slump requires personal sacrifice. He also highlighted the key proposals outlined in the Finance Bill 2023 as solutions to some of the economic challenges facing the nation.

"Let us support the president in creating a new Kenya full of promise," the former legislator said during a press conference in Embu on Thursday, which coincided with the 60th Madaraka Day celebrations attended by the President and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

During his speech in Embu, the president called on Kenyans to rally behind the proposed Housing Fund. "This contribution is a worthwhile investment for the greater good," Ruto said.
