South Africa's Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Party has urged Azimio-One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga to accept the poll results and move on.

The Julius Malema-led party, in a statement Wednesday, lauded Kenya for a violent-free election, saying it has marked a milestone in the development of democratic values in Africa. The party also congratulated President-elect William Ruto on his win.

Malema however asked that Odinga, who came second after Ruto, concedes, to allow for a smooth transition of power.

"The EFF calls on rivals, the contestants, and in particular, Raila Odinga to accept the results of the elections and act with restraint with their supporters. It should never be in the name of any presidential candidate that Africa should re-live the harrowing experience of the past characterised by an elections aftermath of brutal violence," EFF said.

The Malema-led party noted how inter-tribal clashes were the hallmark of general elections in Kenya, a trend they said needs to stop, with losers accepting poll results, and making room for peace to prevail.

"The EFF calls on the President-elect and his supporters to be magnanimous in victory and Raila Odinga to be gracious in the defeat for the good of peace and order in Kenya."

Ruto was Monday declared the President-elect with 50.49 per cent of the total votes cast against his closet rival Raila Odinga who got 48. 85 per cent.
