After Riggy G's banquet at Sagana, it's time to extend generosity to folks banging sufurias

I'm picking the vibration from a stampede at the Sagana State lodge, where Prezzo Bill Ruto and his able deputy Rigathi Gachagua aka Riggy G organised a banquet for locals, as they had promised, and delivered plentiful of meat and rice.

It's called mchele wa nyama in local lingo and it's such a well-regarded delicacy, it's only offered on special occasions, such as the one Riggy G hosted last week.

I don't know if locals were asked to nominate a day that would work for them, or if Riggy G simply arrived in town and announced he was throwing a bash for whomsoever was available.

That's hardly the way to run a limited liability company, the sort that Riggy G envisions for Kenya so that only those who vote for Kenya Kwanza are prioritised.

I have elected to ignore the images circulating online, purportedly showing Riggy G stuffing food in his mouth until it overflows, for I don't think even for a moment he is crude. Well, he has his moments, that's for sure, but I don't think he's reached that level of notoriety.

In any case, the Riggy G in the picture wasn't eating mchele wa nyama, as he was recently, so those images had been carefully manipulated to reflect the Sagana feast.

What matters is that Riggy G has kept this election pledge when so many politicians simply ride to power on empty lies and never look back. What the food means to the locals, on the other hand, has provided some food for thought.

There are those who feel upset they are considered cheap, only worth the price of a meal; others see it as a welcome government subsidy as their domestic budgets will stretch them a day longer.

What matters for me is that now Riggy G has shown his magnanimity, perhaps he should extend his serving spoon to folks who have been parading in the streets wearing empty sufurias on their heads.
