Rio report tabled in parliament

A National Assembly House committee that is probing the alleged mismanagement of the Kenyan team at the Rio Olympic games in Brazil has concluded compiling its report.

The report that recommends radical measures among them detailed forensic audit on spending in relation to the summer 2016 championships was yesterday tabled in the house.

“The auditor general should undertake a special audit on the expenditure relating to the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, including the procurement of air tickets so as to determine the actual number of tickets procured, dispatched and the actual recipients,” reads the report in part.

According to the report, Auditor General Edward Ouko should also look into the procurement of accommodation at the games to establish the persons who were accommodated and the manner in which payments for the same was effected.

“The office of the auditor general should undertake a detailed forensic audit of any money allocated from the consolidated fund towards facilitating the Rio 2016 Olympics and table a report before this committee within three months,” adds the report.
