Mbita Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Moranga Morekwa has been found dead in his official residence.
Homa Bay County Commissioner Moses Lilan confirmed Morekwa's death saying it is shocking.
Lilan said the DCC was unwell two weeks ago but appeared to have recovered and even participated in a raid on unlicensed bars during the Easter holiday.
"He was sick a couple of weeks ago but regained his health and resumed his official duties as usual. But it is unfortunate that the illness overwhelmed him again and killed him suddenly," he said.
He described Morekwa as a dedicated officer who promoted law and order in Mbita sub-county.
