A 67-year-old fisherman was on Sunday killed by a crocodile at Kobuong' beach in Rarieda sub-county.

The deceased, James Nindo is said to have disappeared when he went to check on his fishing trap.

According to eyewitnesses, only his clothes, shoes and panga were found at the lakeshore on Monday morning.

Francis Odede Akomo, a fisherman told The Standard that the clothes were discovered by the residents who went to the beach early morning and they suspect that the old man must have been attacked and mauled by a crocodile.

The area Assistant Chief Alfred Oyola said the man never went back to his home on Sunday night, forcing his wife to wake up to look for him.

"His wife searched all over before going to the lakeshore only to find her husband's clothes near the place where he has been laying his fishing trap," Oyola said.

While confirming the incident, the administrator said that they informed the police and officers from the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) who are currently working with the local fishermen to search for the body.
