Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga (pictured) has asked an elections petition court to dismiss the application challenging her victory.

Before Justice Roselyn Aburili, Governor Wanga defended the procedure ODM used to nominate her as the party's candidate.

She was testifying in a petition filed by former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero who wants her election on August 9 nullified.

Kidero sued Wanga, her deputy Oyugi Magwanga, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), County Returning Officer Fredrick Apopa and ODM.

In her defense, Wanga said she acquired the ODM ticket legally and asked the court to dismiss claims that the process leading to her nomination was unprocedural. During cross-examination by Kidero's lawyer Julie Soweto, the governor said she was given a free ticket after the other aspirants reached a consensus, and that is in line with the ODM constitution.
