Three people died on Wednesday, January 11 after their vehicle, a Toyota Hilux, ran over an improvised explosive device at Hailey in Bura East Sub-County.

Garissa County Commissioner Boaz Cherutich says terrorist group Al-Shabaab could be behind the attack.

"We have dispatched a team of security officers to pursue the people behind the attack," Cherutich told The Standard.

Two other vehicles that were following the one damaged by the IED made a U-turn to avert possible attacks, police said.
