Just over six months after her December 15, 2025 attempt, Dorcas Kwamboka, known on Facebook as Doky Dorcas, has been officially confirmed by Guinness World Records as the new record-holder for the fastest time to make three chapatis.

Dorcas shared the email on Facebook on June 26, celebrating the long-awaited confirmation after months of ridicule and disbelief from some Kenyans. “Have been waiting for this day for so long, God nimekula stray bullets kila kona, thank you God, you have wiped my tears,” she wrote.

Since the confirmation, Dorcas has marked the achievement with a series of posts and videos, using the moment to encourage others and to highlight the importance of chapati in Kenyan life.

She framed the win as a national victory, noting that the previous record-holder was Ugandan. “This win is not just for me but for my lovely country, Kenya. The previous holder was a Ugandan, and it's now officially for Kenya,” she said.

Despite the Guinness confirmation, some online critics continue to accuse her of fabricating the whole thing to boost engagement and followers.

Dorcas has repeatedly posted evidence and made videos to counter the doubters. The Guinness World Records entry confirms her feat: “The fastest time to make three chapatis is 2 min 26.92 sec, and was achieved by Dorcas Kwamboka (Kenya), in Ongata Rongai, Kenya, on 15 December 2025.”

It also notes she beat the previous record by 43 seconds.

Dorcas is a chef based in Ongata Rongai with a deep passion for cooking and record-breaking. When she attempted the record in December, she emphasized that chapati is more than a staple; it is her livelihood.

“Chapati pays my rent, educates my child and takes care of all other needs in my house and parents’ house,” she said.
