Designated Survivor Actor Adan Canto dies at 42 after cancer battle

Television star Adan Canto, renowned for his roles in The Cleaning Lady, Narcos, and Designated Survivor, died on Tuesday at 42, succumbing to appendiceal cancer.

Publicist Jennifer Allen revealed the heartbreaking news, stating, "Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew. Those who glimpsed it were changed forever. He will be greatly missed by so many."

Warner Bros. and Fox Entertainment expressed their sorrow, jointly stating, "We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Adan Canto. A wonderful actor and dear friend, we were honored to have him as part of the Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment families since his U.S. debut in The Following more than a decade ago.

"Most recently, he lit up the screen in The Cleaning Lady with a powerful performance that showcased his artistry, range, depth and vulnerability. This is an unfathomable loss, and we grieve alongside his wife Stephanie, their children and loved ones. We will miss Adan dearly."

Canto, a skilled actor and musician, was a standout in the Fox series "The Cleaning Lady," currently filming its third season at the time of his demise.

Known for his roles in "Designated Survivor," "Narcos," and "Blood and Oil," Canto's versatility extended to films like "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "Agent Game."

Actress Halle Berry, a close collaborator and friend, struggled to articulate her grief, expressing, "My dear sweet friend Adan just gained his wings. Forever, forever in my heart." The pair had collaborated on the 2020 sports drama, "Bruised."

Designated Survivor co-star Italia Ricci conveyed her profound sadness on Instagram, stating, "I'm completely lost for words. He was the strongest person I know in every sense of the word, and I am so angry that this happened."

He is survived by his wife and creative partner, Stephanie Ann Canto, and their two children, Roman Alder, 3, and Eve Josephine, 1.
