Dubai-based Kenyan DJ Babu dies in road accident

The entertainment industry is in mourning following the demise of Dubai-based Kenyan DJ and events promoter DJ Babu Robespierre.

For over a decade, DJ Babu had been a driving force in organising some of the most significant African events for Kenyans residing or visiting Dubai.

His exceptional talent as a mix master earned him praise from numerous artists, and he annually hosted several parties at various entertainment venues.

News of his demise went viral on social media indicating that he was involved in a grisly accident in Dubai on the evening of July 31, 2023, just days after hosting several Kenyan celebrities including Khaligraph Jones, reggae selector Zj Heno and flamboyant businessman Sam K in a decorated show at the Kulture club, Golden Tulip Hotel, Al Barsha 1.

DJ Babu had established strong connections with various Kenyan entertainers, including Mejja, Pierra Makena, Ssaru, Iyanii, Masauti, DJ Double Trouble, and DJ Bling. The news of his passing left them and others in disbelief, leading to an outpouring of condolences on social media.

Khaligraph Jones expressed his shock and grief, reminiscing about the successful gig DJ Babu had organised for him in Dubai just two days prior.

DJ Creme de la Creme thanked Babu for the countless shows he hosted, and his generosity in sharing the gift of music with everyone, both established and upcoming.

DJ Double Trouble and DJ Bling, both in shock, shared their memories of Babu, emphasizing the fleeting nature of life. Meanwhile, Masauti appreciated Babu's support for artists from Kenya, recognizing the invaluable contribution he made.

The Kenyan community in Dubai also expressed their deep sadness upon learning about the tragedy. Details about DJ Babu's final farewell will be communicated in due course.
