Award-winning actress Jackie Matubia has informed her fans that she has had some health complications in the last few days.

Through her Instastories, the content creator shared a photo of herself in hospital and captioned it "To good health. Had the roughest couple of days."

She, however, did not disclose the nature of her ailment.

Matubia recently underwent an Allurion gastric balloon procedure to aid in her weight loss journey and she was impressed by the results after shedding 12kgs in just under two months.

"The inches are inching 2 months in with the Allurion balloon and I have moved from 105kgs to 93.3kgs," she wrote on November 21, 2022.

A few days later, she shared before/after photos as she marveled at her new body size.

The Allurion Balloon is a weight-loss balloon provided as a pill that can be swallowed and later turned into a gastric balloon in your stomach by a healthcare professional.

Once in your stomach and inflated, the pill balloon works by filling you up, so you're less hungry. The procedure takes less than 20 minutes.

According to healthcare experts, the immediate effects of a gastric balloon include; nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps which are often short-lived.

They tend to last just under a week before the body fully adjusts.

For some, however, the side effects might be more complicated and intolerance might lead to the removal of the balloon although that is usually the last resort.

The gastric balloon is considered one of the safest procedures with a low risk of complications since there are no incisions or changes to the digestive system.
