Listed lender, NIC Bank, has opened a new branch in Industrial Area as part of its ambitious expansion plan to reach more customers and grow its SME business. The new Lunga Lunga branch, is the first of two expected in the fourth quarter of 2015 to be opened in Nairobi. These will bring the total number of branches in Kenya to 27.

The bank is also looking to open two branches in the counties early next year. “We have a strategy to increase our footprint across the country and indeed the region, this is one of many branches in the pipeline for NIC Bank. We want to be closer to our customers and potential customers in the region,” said NIC Bank Chairman, James Ndegwa, during the opening ceremony.

Earlier this year, the bank opened a branch in Machakos County, while in July, NC Uganda, a subsidiary of the Group, opened a second branch in the country, at the Village Mall, Kampala. Group Managing Director John Gachora said the bank is looking to grow its customer base and asset book by growing its reach.
