President William Ruto is set to leave the country today for a State visit to Ghana, and an official visit to Guinea-Bissau.

Ruto will hold talks with Presidents Nana Akufo-Addo (Ghana) and Umaro Sisspcp Embalo of Guine-Bissau, to strengthen diplomatic, trade, and historical ties between Kenya and the two West African countries.

In Ghana, the Head of State will visit the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA) headquarters in Accra, focusing on boosting Kenyan tea and leather exports to Ghana.

He is also set to address the Ghana- Kenya Business Forum, as he looks at exploring investment and trade opportunities.

"As the African Union Champion for Institutional Reform and Chair of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change, Ruto will advocate for transforming the African Union into a leading force for continental unity and economic revitalization," State House Spokesperson Hussein said.

Ruto will then proceed to Guinea-Bissau for an official visit, where he is scheduled to meet President Umaro Sissoco Embalo.

Here, he will champion trade relations, and identify areas of cooperation in key sectors including manufacturing, agriculture and technology.

This will be Ruto's first visit to Ghana and Guinea-Bissau since assuming office in September 2022.
