Terminal 1E at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, JKIA has been temporarily closed following a fire incident on Monday, March 25.

According to a press statement by the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), the fire was caused by an electric fault.

"The situation was quickly contained, with no injuries or casualties resulting from the incident," KAA's statement read in part.

Power to the terminal has been temporarily shut off as a precautionary measure.

KAA says all flight arrival operations have been redirected to Terminal 1A until further notice.

A similar incident happened four years ago at Terminal 1C's check-in counters 7 and 8.
