The High Court has postponed the sentencing of Joseph Irungu alias Jowie to Wednesday, March 13.

This is after Lady Justice Grace Nzioka pointed out that crucial documents expected to assist the court in reaching its final decision had been filed as late as Thursday at 7 pm.

Jowie's lawyer told the court that he needed more time to review the pre-sentencing report of his client and also file a reply.

During Friday's session at Milimani Law Courts, Justice Nzioka also raised an issue with the change of counsel by the accused, whom the judge noted had not filed a mitigation report as would be expected.

Justice Nzioka thus directed that the replies be filed by Tuesday next week for her to deliver the sentence on Wednesday.

Jowie was in February found guilty of the murder of businesswoman Monica Nyawira Kimani, whose lifeless body was discovered at her apartment in Kilimani, Nairobi on September 19, 2018.

Former TV presenter Jacque Maribe, an accused in the same case, was however acquitted of the murder charges.
