Police have nabbed two men suspected of being part of a SIM swap fraud syndicate operating in Kericho, Nakuru, and Bomet counties.

The suspects, identified as Kevin Kiplangat, 31, alias Elvis, and Evan Kiprotich Chirchir, 22, alias Protio, were arrested in separate raids in Mulot and Chepalungu areas of Bomet on Wednesday.

The arrests were part of an ongoing crackdown on criminal gangs in the regions, following numerous reports of SIM swap fraud from the public.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the suspects were being held at Litein Police Station, awaiting an identification parade and a court appearance for a violent robbery case that occurred at the station on December 29, 2023.
