Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna says the Senate will summon Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) officials over the Embakasi gas explosion.

Sifuna added that they will be required to provide a list of all gas refilling plants in the county, their location, and the mechanisms in place in case of an emergency.

"I want to assure the people of Nairobi that we [Senate] will be summoning the EPRA CEO and his team to come and explain to us where all the liscenced facilities are located and the mechanisms put in place to ensure that they operate safely and that they are located at a distance away from residential areas, " said Sifuna.

His remarks come hours after a gas refilling plant in Embakasi exploded, killing three people, among them an infant and hundreds injured.
