Omollo announced that the national government will embark on renovating the abandoned Turkwel State Lodge located at the scenic banks of Turkwel Gorge in Riting, Endugh Ward, Kapenguria constituency.

The facility can host more than 3,000 people.

It is expected that once complete, the project will impact the lives of residents positively through creation of employment and business opportunities such as supply of goods and services.

"This venture not only brings infrastructure but holds the promise of creating opportunities for the local community. We believe it will be a game-changer in uplifting the livelihoods of Turkwel residents," said Omollo.

The PS said the Maliza Uhalifu operation has been successful in eradicating insecurity along the Kerio Valley.

He assured that the Ministry will use all means to deal with bandits causing tension in the area and any leader linked to the menace will be dealt with accordingly.

Governor Simon Kachapin said his administration will work closely with other leaders and the designated construction team to ensure the renovation of the State Lodge.

"We are committed to seeing this project through to fruition, working hand in hand with all stakeholders involved," he said.

Kerio Valley Development Authority Managing Director Samuel Naporos said the project aligns with the vision for regional development.

"It's a collaborative effort that holds promise for positive change in Turkwel and beyond," said Naporos.

National Assembly Committee on Regional Development Chairman and Sigor MP, Peter Lochakapong said that once complete the State Lodge will benefit locals through job creation.

MCA, Victor Siywat expressed gratitude for the attention the government is giving to Turkwel.

"This is a historic moment for our community. The State Lodge not only brings prestige but also opens doors for development we have long awaited," Siywat said.
