Trade Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has sought to streamline the performance of agencies under her docket so as to align its performance to the Kenya Kwanza agenda.

The CS, while addressing ministry staff, said this will ensure work under her docket is not done in silo.

CS Miano was accompanied by Principal Secretaries - Dr Juma Mukhwana (State Department of Industry), Alfred K'Ombudo (State Department of Trade) and Abubakar Kwiji (State Department of Investments).

The meeting held Monday marked a transformative journey for her docket which she said will provide staff with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment.

Miano referenced the Executive Order No.2 of 2023, which places the Ministry at the forefront of the much-desired economic recovery, growth and transformation in investments, trade and industry.

"My desire is to build a more cohesive team at the Ministry, break the silo mentality among staff members while establishing a working One-Ministry Approach in our service delivery," said Miano.

She added: "I look forward to changing the workplace culture at the Ministry where we become each other's keepers in an atmosphere where rectitude, diligence, mentorship and constant consultations are upheld and practiced."

The CS noted of the 10 strategic deliverables informed by Kenya Kwanza's Bottom-Up Transformation Agenda (BETA) which include: facilitation of domestic and foreign investments, development and management of Special Economic Zones, Export Processing Zones, Industrial Parks and County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs), enhancing export market, and value addition and agro-processing which will guide the performance of the ministry.

Others are: fighting counterfeits, development of iron, steel, building and construction, pharmaceutical and other industries, implementing one stop investment center, mobilise resources for initiatives such as Nairobi International Finance Centre, provide strategy for manufacturing projects finance and implementing local content policy.

"Moving forward, we shall work towards improving efficiency in all our Semi-Autonomous Government

Agencies (SAGAs) guided by the practice of thriftiness as a core principle," said the CS.

"Still on efficiency, I strongly encourage a work attitude guided by timeliness in the delivery of results right across the Ministry and all its SAGAs," she added.
