Former President Uhuru Kenyatta says he is appreciative of good health as he turns a year older today.

The former president spoke during a brief interview on Kameme FM when the host called to wish him a happy birthday.

Kenyatta is turning 62 years.

"Let's not talk about my age, we give thanks for the years that God had given me. Life begins at 40. We thank God for the far he has brought us and for good health," said the former Commander-in-Chief.

Kenyatta, an avid reggae lover, would go on to request the radio host to play him ' I got you babe' by his favourite pop band UB40.

The former president has also received well wishes from Kenyans across the country.

At his home county, traders from Gatundu market threw the former president a birthday party, albeit in absentia.

Kenyatta has steered from the public eye since July 24, when he met several editors from media houses.

At the time, he was addressing a raid that had happened at his son Jomo's house.
