Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has officially assumed ministerial duties of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a handover ceremony at the Kenya Railways headquarters, Nairobi on Tuesday, October 17, Mudavadi took over tools of trade from Alfred Mutua.

The new Foreign Affairs CS vowed to address the needs of Kenyans abroad among other issues.

"I promise to prioritise attending to issues of Kenyans abroad who are in distress and to digitize communication channels for improved delivery," said Mudavadi.

Just days after the recent Cabinet reshuffle, Mudavadi hinted that he was aware of the new assignment.

It came as no surprise then, when he made several visits outside the country to strengthen Kenya's relations with various States.

Last week, he was in Geneva, Switzerland where he joined other leaders to address the issue of refugee management.

In another meeting with Yemen Ambassador to Kenya, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, the two agreed to foster a good relationship for the sake of Kenyans living in the Middle East.

Mudavadi was in Juba, South Sudan yesterday meeting with President Salva Kiir.
