Popular sports commentator Sean Cardovillis is dead.

His death was confirmed by his employer Capital FM, who said that this family had been informed.

A cleaner found Cardovillis' body outside his house in Westlands, Nairobi on Saturday morning.

"We are deeply saddened to announce that the world of sports has lost one of its most iconic voices-Sean Cardovillis," said Capital FM.

Until his death, Cardovillis worked as a Sports News Presenter at the Saturday Music and Sports show, which he premiered more than 18 years ago.

He left the station in 2006 for Seychelles before coming back to the country in 2012 and joined the Nation Media Group in 2016 where he worked across Radio and TV as a sports journalist. He left in 2020 where he went freelance before making a return to Radio on Capital FM in mid-2023.

He announced his return in June through his X account.

"I'm BACK! After 18 years, it's great to return to CapitalFMKenya. I'll be presenting the sports updates Mondays to Fridays, and also presenting Saturday Music & Sports as we rebrand sports at the station. I start on Monday at Kenya's number one radio station," he wrote.

His last update on X was 23 hours ago about the World Rally Championship (WRC).

"Once again, we pass our condolences to the family, colleagues, friends and our listeners following this devastating report," said Capital FM.
