ODPP shortlists 15 candidates for DPP position

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has shortlisted 15 candidates for the Director of Public Prosecution position.

This follows the conclusion of shortlisting exercise on June 28, 2023.

In a newspaper notice on Saturday, July 22, the ODPP noted interviews for the qualified candidates would be conducted on August 1 and 2, 2023 respectively.

"Pursuant to the provision of Article 157 of the Constitution and section 8 ()1-(4) of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Act,2013, the selection panel invited applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Director of Public Prosecution in the print media and Commission website on June 28, 2023," ODPP said in a notice.

"Following the conclusion of the shortlisting exercise, the Selection Panel publishes the shortlisted candidates and the interview schedule."

Former IEBC commissioner Thomas Letangule, lawyer Danstan Omari and advocate Taib Ali Taib are among those position.

Others are Jacinta Nyamosi, Victor Mule, Tabitha Ouya, David Ruto, Andayi Francis, Winston Ngaira, Peter Mailayi, Lilian Okumu-Obuo,Jacob Ondari, James Ndegwa, David Okachi and Renson Ingonga.

The position fell vacant following the appointment of Noordin Haji to take up the role as National Intelligence Service (NIS) chief by President William Ruto.
