President William Ruto on Tuesday, July 4, presided over the swearing-in of Salome Wairimu and Ann Njoki as new Principal Secretaries (PSs).

The two will assume office within the State Department of Correctional Services and the State Department for Performance Management and Delivery Services, respectively.

The event, held at State House Nairobi, was attended by prominent leaders, including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

Salome Wairimu will assume the role previously held by Esther Ngero, who resigned shortly after her appointment due to personal reasons.

Ngero had previously served as the PS for the State Department for Performance Management and Delivery Services, a position that will now be filled by Ann Njoki.

In his address, Ruto emphasized the importance of prioritising the needs of Kenyans and fostering collaboration with colleagues within their respective departments, as well as other government entities.

"Given the high expectations of the Kenyan people, I am confident that you have the understanding and capability to support your Cabinet Secretaries and work harmoniously with your colleagues. Our mandate is to transform and improve the lives of Kenyans," said Ruto.

Regarding the State Department of Correctional Services, Ruto expressed his intention to work closely with the newly appointed PS to ensure that correctional facilities provide opportunities for individuals to rehabilitate themselves and serve the nation effectively.

"With the State Department for Performance Management and Delivery Services, there are great expectations, particularly in enhancing the productivity of public servants. I expect you to collaborate with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) and other government departments to ensure accountability and performance-based remuneration for every public servant," Ruto added.

The new PSs pledged their allegiance to President Ruto and expressed their unwavering commitment to faithfully serve the people of Kenya.
