A French man has broken the Guinness World record for running while on fire without oxygen.

Jonathan Vero, a firefighter, has set a new world record after running the longest distance on full body burning without oxygen.

According to Guinness World Records(GWR), Vero, 39, ran 272.25 meters. He was wearing a protective suit while engulfed in flames.

The firefighter has broken the previous long-distance run full-body burn without oxygen on 204.23 meters(670ft) record set by Antony Briton of the United Kingdom in 2017.

GWR has also revealed that Vero broke another record for the fastest full body burns 100 m sprint without oxygen, clocking in at 17 seconds, beating the previous record by 7.58 seconds.

He made his official attempt in his hometown Haubourdin, France.

"The city that saw me grow up," he said.

He had spent three months in preparation for the record-breaking.

Vero said that he always had a passion for fire and never stopped playing with it ever since childhood.

"This performance has a lot of meaning for me, for my job as a firefighter, and for the people who trained me and watched me grow," Vero said.

Vero told GWR that he has achieved these Guinness World Records titles to fulfill a childhood dream.

However, he still aims to set another record; "I've still got a lot to try and a lot of records to go for," he said.

GWR has commended Vero for his victory stating that the longest distance full body burn run without oxygen record is highly competitive and has changed hands seven times since 2009.
