Seven passengers died in a road accident after a school bus ferrying mourners collided head-on with another vehicle at Kanyadhiang' junction on Kendu Bay-Homa Bay road on Friday, May 5, 2023.

The police said the bus belonging to ACK Guu Secondary School was transporting mourners to a funeral at Pala village in Rachuonyo North sub-county when the accident happened.

Witnesses said the bus driver was negotiating a corner, as he left the main road for another route towards Pala, when he lost control of his vehicle before it overturned.

The injured persons were taken to Kendu Bay sub-county hospital, Homa Bay County Referral Hospital, and Kendu Adventist Hospital at Gendia.

"Many people have serious injuries. They have been taken to various hospitals. We cannot tell the exact number of those who died," County police commander Samson Kinne said.
