The new leadership of the Methodist Church in Kenya has said they are stable and ready to move on.

''We want to let you know that Methodist Church in Kenya is going on well and so far our members, churches, synods, parishes and conference centre is doing well. The problems you were hearing are now over and we are committed to do God's work to continue well,'' said Bishop Isaya Deye.

The remarks come few days after the church was entangled in leadership wrangles pitting one side led by acting Presiding Bishop Deye against the other faction led by former Presiding Bishop Joseph Ntombura.

He was speaking on Wednesday while addressing the media at the Methodist Ministries Centre in Nairobi.

Bishop Deye said the church's Constitution is clear that a Presiding Bishop can only lead for two terms of five years each.

He thanked the Standing Committee which intervened and ended the leadership wrangle and brought peace.

''We now want when media comes to us, they find good news and not ask us where have you reached, you have fought up to where but should ask us how far is the word of God in the church,'' said Bishop Deye.

He said Ntombura's term ended on August 4 last year and asked him to give the church space to continue with its work,

''I want to ask him avoid using the title of Presiding Bishop of the church because there is now a new leader, using church logo and letter because the church now has a new leadership,'' he said.

Bishop Deye also asked Ntombura to continue with his life, saying they shall pray for him as they continue with uniting the church and that when their time come, they shall leave honourably and in peace for others to take over.
