Ruto jets back on Maandamano Day

President William Ruto on Thursday, March 30 returned to the country after a four-day tour of Germany and Belgium.

The president arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi a few minutes to 9am.

He was received by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Chief of Defence Forces Robert Kibochi, Inspector-General of Police Japhet Koome and senior military officers.

The Head of State is expected to later Thursday preside over the American Chamber of Commerce Summit in Nairobi.

"He will grace the event between 2pm and 3pm today," Government Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed told The Standard.

Ruto arrives back in Kenya on a day when the opposition plans to continue its countrywide protests over the cost of living and IEBC selection panel grievances.

The president has, in the recent past, vowed to ensure that law and order is observed, even as Kenyans exercise their right of picketing.
