Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has allocated duties to the appointed Chief Administrative Secretaries (CAS) in the ministry.

In a statement dated Monday, March 27, Kindiki said that the allocations will help in the effective delivery of services.

Millicent Omanga has been named head of the State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services where she will be in charge of reforms in the civil registration services (CRS), the national registration bureau, and the department of refugees.

Her colleague Ambassador Mohamud Saleh who will head the State Department for Correctional Services will be in charge of reforms in the Kenya Prisons Service (KPS), Borstal Institutions, and the Probation Department.

Samuel Ole Tunai will oversee the State Department for Internal Security and National Administrations.

The allocations come days after the court stopped the 50 newly appointed Chief Administrative Secretaries (CASs) from assuming office or receiving any salary.

Justice Hedwig Ong'udi, on Friday, March 24, stated that the CAS will only assume office after a petition by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) challenging their legality is heard and determined.

The LSK, through its president Eric Theuri, argues that President Ruto acted against the law by increasing the number of CAS slots from the originally recommended 23 to 50.

The case will be mentioned on March 28, 2023.
