'Don't be duped into joining opposition' Wetangula warns Western

Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula has reassured the people of Western Kenya that the region is fully in government for meaningful development that it has yearned for years.
Wetangula has at the same time called on the residents of Western region to ignore any attempts to dupe them into joining opposition through what he termed as unnecessary demonstrations.
Speaking when he presided over a funds drive at St. Patrick Sisokhe Catholic Church in Navakholo Constituency, Kakamega County, Wetangula stated that it is also called upon leaders from the region to unite in a bid to consolidate the region's development in order to enhance their political Journey.
"When we come together as a community our strength is felt, our bargaining power is stronger and our development is visible. I salute our members of parliament for the unity that they are demonstrating of late by coming together for the community's sake," he said.
At the same time, Wetangula disclosed that he will soon be meeting Members of the County Assemblies of Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties to discuss the political future of the western region.
"I also like to thank our MCAs across all our western region's counties for being our able grassroots foot soldiers who champion our region's unity. Being together is a good beginning, walking together is progress and sticking together is great success", added Speaker Wetang'ula.
On matters economy, the Speaker told the gathering that President William Ruto has not yet presented his first budget in Parliament for consideration promising them that when he does the budget their development agendas will be considered.
"We took over a government that had huge debts. As a country we are currently experiencing the worst drought in many years since 1986 and has adversely affected farming, livestock and the wildlife in our parks hence pausing a challenge in uplifting the economy," he added.
The Sunday 12, March fund drive was attended by a host of leaders from Western region among them; Kakamega Governor Fernandez Barasa, Deputy Governor Ayub Savula, Senetor Bonny Khalwale, Mps Jack Wamboka, Aseka Christopher and Titus Khamala among others.
