Moses Wetang'ula calls MPs for special sitting on Thursday

The National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula has called Members of parliament for a special sitting.

According to adverts by the National Assembly, the sitting has been scheduled for Thursday, December 8, from 10 am and 2:30 pm for both morning and afternoon sessions.

"Now, therefore, it is hereby notified to all Members of the National Assembly and the general public that Thursday, 8th December 2022, has been appointed as the day for Special Sittings of the National Assembly,"

"The Sittings will be held in the National Assembly Chamber, Main Parliament Buildings, Nairobi, commencing at 10.00 am and at 2.30 pm (for the Morning and Afternoon sittings, respectively),"

The House went on recess last week, but the lawmakers have been called back for the following reasons;

Conveyance of any urgent Messages from the National Executive and/or the Senate.

The tabling of a Report by the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning regarding the vetting of nominees for appointment to the position of Members of the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA).

Notification of Special Motion regarding the approval of nominees for appointment to the position of Members of the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA).

Tabling of any urgent Papers/ Statutory Instruments/ Regulations with Statutory timelines;

Transaction of the following Business - (i) First Reading of The Statute Law (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill, 2022; (ii) First Reading and consideration of any other urgent Bill; (iii) Consideration of a Report of the Committee on Delegated Legislation on the Public Finance Management (Public Investments Management) Regulations, 2022 (Legal Notice No. 54 of 2022); and, (iv) Approval of nominees to various National Government Constituency Development Fund Committee.
