A United States senator currently on a brief Kenyan tour is scheduled to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta, President-elect William Ruto and Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leader Raila Odinga.

Delaware Senator Chris Coon arrived in Kenya on Wednesday night, said the US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman.

Whitman, however, did not disclose whether Coon will meet the three Kenyan leaders simultaneously or separately.

The lawmaker will discuss health, security and economic issues with Kenyatta, Ruto and Odinga.

It wasn't revealed whether the just-concluded general election will also be up for discussion.

Senator Coon is in Africa for a series of visits across five countries. Kenya was the third country that he visited.

"Senator Coon's delegation is scheduled to meet with President Kenyatta, President-elect William Ruto and Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leader Raila Odinga to discuss shared goals- health, security, and economic prosperity," said Whitman.

Senator Coon will also meet conservationists, health providers and organisations working to empower girls.

Interestingly, President Kenyatta and the senator attended Amherst College in Massachusetts. They both pursued a Bachelor's Degree course in Economics, Political Science and Government, graduating in 1985.
