Ruto: I have paid Harambee Stars players on their victory

President William Ruto has assured Kenyans that he has honoured his pledge to pay Harambee Stars players for their recent performances, saying his government remains committed to motivating the national football team.
This means each of the national football team player is Sh1.5 million richer.
Speaking ahead of Kenya's highly anticipated clash against Morocco, Ruto revealed that he had already settled payments promised after the team's last two matches against DR Congo and Angola.
"I promised them for every win, each player will go home with Sh1 million, and for every draw, half a million. I have honoured my last two commitments and want to urge Kenyans to pray for our team to win today's game," Ruto said.
The president urged both players and fans to give their best in support of the team.
"Our players, Harambee Stars, should play like them. Our fans should play like them. And I will play like me so that Harambee Stars can succeed. When they win, you applaud them, then I will pay," he said.
Ruto's promise of cash incentives comes as part of efforts to boost morale and performance in the national squad, which is chasing crucial qualification points.
