Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has revealed that all members of the cabinet had completed their hand-over reports as they prepare to exit the office for the next administration.

His sentiments come less than four weeks before the August 9 polls.

In a press release dated Wednesday, July 14, CS Matiang’i said the outgoing team was only waiting for the president’s directive on when to present the notes.

“The President has instructed us to prepare handing-over notes, and our Cabinet colleagues can tell you that all of us have completed our handing-over reports,” the CS said.

“We are prepared to do the democratic thing as government and we will ensure that there is a smooth succession, and we will give it 100 per cent support.”

Yesterday, CS Matiang’I said that intelligence reports have indicated that the country was largely peaceful apart from areas where criminal gangs were attempting to come up.

“The peaceful environment is highly due to the anticipation and containment of potential peace and security disruptions, adequate resourcing of security personnel and regular and open engagements with stakeholders including development partners,” Matiang’i added.

The meeting was also attended by ICT Chair Joe Mucheru, Attorney General Prof. Kihara Kariuki, Deputy Inspector General Edward Mbugua, and Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) CEO Carol Kariuki.

Other participants in the meeting were representatives from the US, the European Union and international donor agencies including the World Bank and the IMF.
