Two dead, three injured in Southern Bypass road accident

Two people have died in a road accident involving several vehicles Tuesday morning on Southern Bypass along Lang'ata Road, Nairobi.

Area police officers confirmed the accident and reported that one truck caught fire at the scene, leaving three others with serious injuries.

"A road traffic accident involving multiple vehicles has been reported on Southern Bypass towards Lang'ata from Olesereni. One of the vehicles has caught fire," authorities said in a traffic report seen by The Standard.

The Kenya Red Cross also confirmed the incident, noting that three vehicles were involved.

Emergency response teams have been dispatched to contain the situation.

The incident has resulted in a traffic snarl up on the busy highway.

Motorists plying the route have been advised to anticipate traffic delays as they seek alternative routes.
